Excellent short series
2 October 2017 | by See all my reviews

The idea of the auteur may have died for some many years ago, but this excellent little series gives it life. 20 minutes or so devoted to 20 or so of the most important living, usually English-speaking, directors gives incisive insight into the themes and obsessions of their movies. Unpretentious, insightful and really useful, with great nuggets from a variety of famous admirers. Hard not to want to watch everything that is discussed.

The overall rating of this seems to have been rigged by a stupidly large number of one star reviews; can't see what would motivate someone to do that, as the series is top notch.
