Not as good as usual

Okay here we have another Eurovision Song Contest for this year. After a rather disappointing semi-final, the final line up was not all that good either, but we did have a very good song from Sweden which we did not see in the semis because Sweden did well in last years Eurovision.

As I mentioned in my comment for the 2007 semi itself, this can be quite unfair, but at least it has served a good purpose, this being that this classic song actually made it to the final where it deserved to be.

The funny thing is, even if you don't actually like the song, you can tell by listening to it that it is very good quality and well written.

Sadly it would seem that nowadays it's not the norm required to win Eurovision.

One break in tradition this year is that the winning song was not performed in English! Throughout the history of Eurovision, only one non-English song has won under the free language rule, this was France back in 1977.

All in all, not the best I've seen, quite a few mundane songs, but at least the one or two songs that I liked were memorable.
