Winslet Replaces Pregnant Kidman in Film

Kate Winslet has replaced Nicole Kidman in World War II drama The Reader, after the pregnant Australian actress pulled out of the project. Kidman on Monday confirmed she is expecting a baby with her husband Keith Urban. She was due to start shooting the adaptation of German author Bernhard Schlink's book with director Stephen Daldry later this month, but withdrew from the movie after learning of her pregnancy. And now Winslet, who was originally offered the role but had to decline because the shoot clashed with her commitments to upcoming film Revolutionary Road, has now signed up to star in The Reader opposite Ralph Fiennes.

Crowe & DiCaprio To Star in Scott Film

Academy Award-winning actor Russell Crowe will team up with director Ridley Scott for the fifth time in a movie thriller with an Al Qaeda plot. Leonardo DiCaprio will also star in Body Of Lies which has been written by The Departed's William Monahan and will be directed by Scott. The Gladiator star will play a CIA boss who teams up with DiCaprio as an operative trying to trap an Al Qaeda leader. According to Moviehole.net, producers have been desperate to cast Crowe for months, and although he is on board, he wants to read "a polished rewrite" before committing to a contract. DiCaprio is currently shooting the literary drama Revolutionary Road alongside Titanic co-star Kate Winslet, while Crowe will appear later this year with fellow Oscar winner Denzel Washington in American Gangster.

DiCaprio Heading for Broadway?

Blood Diamond actor Leonardo DiCaprio is considering swapping Hollywood for Broadway later this year, to make his New York stage debut in drama The Basic Training Of Pavlo Hummel. According to FoxNews columnist Roger Friedman, DiCaprio's agents are currently negotiating the deal, that would see the actor recreate a role played on Broadway by Al Pacino 30 years ago. Pavlo Hummel is an American soldier stationed in Vietnam who has an African-American alter ego called Ardell. If he accepts, the 32-year-old will have to head to New York in the autumn, straight from the set of Revolutionary Road, to be directed by Sam Mendes and co-starring Mendes' wife Kate Winslet.

Winslet and DiCaprio To Reunite

Titanic stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet are to reunite on the big screen, 10 years after the blockbuster disaster movie. Winslet and DiCaprio famously played doomed lovers in the James Cameron epic and will now play a troubled married couple in an adaptation of Richard Yates' novel Revolutionary Road. The English actress' husband Sam Mendes will direct the movie, when filming begins on America's East Coast this summer.
