When a woman is found murdered in a hotel room with the same signature as an accused serial killer awaiting trial behind bars, Detectives believe it to be the work of a copycat. Considering that details of the case have been kept strictly under wraps, and the accused killer, Reddick, has had no visitors other that attorneys and psychiatrists, aids Detectives in limiting the suspect pool. Once Goren and Eames discover that Reddick is involved in a clinical study linking a brain lesion to rage killing, they grow to suspect that one of the doctors conducting the study committed the copycat killing, but find the reason shocking. Know-it-all Goran
12 January 2012 | by See all my reviews

Adventures of irritating Mr.Know-it-all Detective Bob Goran (D'Onofrio). This dude must have a form of Aspergers. If he were less irritating I might have watched this show more. Every week the character makes all the other cops look utterly brain-dead.

In this episode a serial killer's guilt comes into question for mysterious reasons. Of course, only one cop on the Major Case Squad has any inkling of what is really going on and has to correct the mistakes of other cops.

To me copycat killers are the most dangerous and evil of murderers because their method suggests they do not want to get caught. Cultivating misidentification with the nefarious deeds of a serial murderer indicates not merely icy premeditation but a level of lucid reasoning and intellect that is scary in its own right. There are sane murderers. If there weren't they could all hide behind an insanity plea.
