While working on his film class' movie, team player Dawson has a hard time being stuck in the background of filmmaking with his older, more professional classmates. Meanwhile, as Dawson plots to give Jen the 'perfect kiss' after negotiating their first date, Joey is swept away by a handsome stranger, named Anderson, to whom she pretends to be wealthy to get him to notice her rather than introducing herself as a small-town local.
