I have just seen this at a screening for the Boston Jewish Film
Festival. Even though it was the opening night festival film and was
very well received, I hesitated to go because of the low IMDb rating.
Hurrah that I forged ahead. This was a very realistic, non-Hollywood
production with an excellent script that kept my attention from start
to end. The actors WERE their characters; they were that
transparent.Pain, angst, stubborn independence, and a deep yearning are
what the two lead women share, and they build a friendship of trust and
mutual support that enables them to grow stronger and make significant
steps in their lives. THAT was really neat to be part of.

I liked this little drama movie. I just watched it by chance one night.
I have some problems with the story development of Lily's character,
though, but what I truly LOVED was the relationship that springs to
life between old Lily and young Sandra, and how incredibly beautiful
this is portrayed by the Danish grand actress Ghita Nørby and Swedish
rising star Tuva Novotny. They play off each other so beautifully! You
really get the feeling that these two actresses 'clicked' with each
other somewhere along the line in the work of this film. I love
generation films and as such this is one of the most wonderful films
I've seen in recent years - because it's so simple it goes straight to
your heart. But because it's simple the film also takes perhaps too
many short-cuts in the plot/script. But the actresses and the directing
are better than the movie itself; without Ghita Nørby's and Tuva
Novotny's chemistry I don't think the film would have worked out.
I also loved the sisterhood feeling and the message of the film,
especially between women of different ages/generations. It was a great
"women film", films which are all too rare to be seen (actually the
only one other great one that I've seen with similar feeling is
"Enchanting April", 1992). That's why I also felt that this film was
important, despite some shortcomings in storyline.
Recommended to everyone with a heart - and to girls worldwide! :)
