Storyline

"Lost and Found" is a film project for which six young filmmakers from Central and Eastern Europe have each developed a short film on the theme of "generation". Together, these six short films make a whole cinema evening. Unique thereby is the selection of young directors, who are currently among the most talented in the Central and Eastern European region. Also special is that five of the short films (four short narrative films and one short documentary) are visually framed by an independent animation story. The filmmakers made their films with local producers in their home countries; post-production was carried out in Germany. The theme "generation" is the thread running through the whole film. It mirrors a new self-understanding of young filmmakers in Central and Eastern Europe. Traditions and national history are viewed in a new way and cinematically narrated. The concept of generation was not intended to neutralize the differences between the countries, but to create a ... Written by Nukufilm

best short movies i saw in recent years
22 May 2008 | by (Romania) – See all my reviews

Very good these short movies. Telling typical stories from Eastern Europe. Nations living in shadow for tens of years, not known to Europe and to the world. Living among Romanians, Serbs and Hungarians, i recognize in these movies typical characteristics, behaviors, customs. Very touching and sensitive stories. Whether of some characters, whether of their nations. I think the Turkey Girl is the best. Not because i live in Romania. :) but it's the deepest and the most complex. I liked also very much the Bulgarian "The Ritual" and also the Serb "Fabulous Vera". I think these three are excellent. The Hungarian "Shortlasting Silence" one is very dark but meaningful and strong, the Estonian theme-movie i didn't quite understand (maybe someone can help me out) and last but not least, the Bosnian "Birthday" is a very well done and sensitive journalistic approach, a "reportage"-type. I love this movie.
