Although Brazil has millions living in poverty, it is one of the wealthiest countries in the world. Unfortunately, the disparity between rich and poor is tremendous. The richest 1% owns over 10% of Brazil's wealth. The northern part of the country (responsible for agriculture) is the main area affected by poverty. The south is mainly composed of middle and upper class, although most cities have certain areas similar to City of God, albeit not as dangerous.
