"Meurtres A Domicile " succeeds in building a bizarre atmosphere ,helped by a bunch of weirdos (notably Daniel Emilfork, the most sinister-looking actor of the FRench cinema ,from the miniseries "Signé Alouette " (1966) to Jeunet's "Cité Des Enfants Perdus") and gorgeous -but not very smart as a sleuth- Anny Duperrey as the detective and her then-partner Bernard Giraudeau SPOILER,playing two parts;there's the rub:the make-up artist botched the job and you won't be fooled one minute ,particularly if you are French:the problem was similar in Chabrol's "Le Scandale" and Stephane Audran's two parts .
Georges Simenon updated by Roman Polanski?Could be but Jean Van Hamme who would write the good stories of Largo Winch was not up to scratch when it came to write a whodunit .An undertaker loves the dead bodies and a young man praises suicide like Greeks used to do before they grew old .Giraudeau alone makes the movie worthwhile and Duperrey is eye candy.
