The real Pocahontas married John Rolfe at a church in Jamestown on April 5, 1614 under her Christian name "Rebecca". A year later, they had a son named Thomas. In this animated film, they do not get married whatsoever.
Pocahontas and her bodyguard, Uttamatomakkin were never imprisoned at the Tower of London. In real life, she visited George Percy's brother, Henry Percy, the Ninth Earl of Northumberland at that place and he mended her earrings for her.
In real life, John Rolfe came to America in 1610 to give the English settlers tobacco in Virginia by making a tobacco plantation after he lost his first wife, Sarah Hacker, in Bermuda. In this film, Rolfe is sent to Virginia by King James and Queen Anne to accompany Chief Powhatan to London.
The real John Rolfe did not have a female housekeeper at all. His mother and siblings resided in Heacham. After Pocahontas died, John gave his son Thomas to Sir Lewis Stukeley who later transferred the wardship to John's brother, Henry Rolfe.
In real life, John Rolfe met Pocahontas during her captivity under Sir Thomas Dale and conversion to Christianity through Reverend Alexander Whitaker in July of 1613, in the settlement of Henricus. In this animated film, he meets Pocahontas near the colony of Jamestown.
