'Mr. Show' Stars Take Their (Unproduced) Movie Onto The Stage
23 September 2002 (StudioBriefing)
David Cross and Bob Odenkirk, the stars of HBO's loony late-nighter Mr. Show (1995-'99) are beginning a national tour to perform a screenplay they have written on the stage in hopes of drawing Hollywood's attention to it, the Boston Globe reported today (Monday). The pair's Hooray for America is due to open in Boston on Tuesday. Their only film project to date, Run Ronnie Run!, made for New Line, was yanked from its release last April and has rested on the studio's shelves since. Despite cameo roles in the film by Jack Black, Jeff Goldblum, Kent McCord, Trey Parker, Matt Stone, Andy Richter, and Garry Shandling, it is unlikely that the film will ever see the light of a movie projector at a regular theater. Commented Odenkirk: "It's like if your friend died of cancer and then you had to keep telling people the story of how he died of cancer. You know? You just kind of want to sit there and you want to remember the best parts of him and just let the rest go and let the sorrow go after a while."
