Angela Lansbury - Wow!

No one sizzles in this movie as much as Angela Lansbury does; she even blows away Kate Hepburn in their scenes together. The opening scene when her ruthless newspaper-czar-father passes his mantle to her is deliciously over the top.

She becomes a dirty-dealin' political kingmaker but her sexy power hunger is such a turn-on I find it hard to hate her. She looks incredible - her Irene Sharaff outfits are so hot and her Americanized-English accent is as chic as ever. One of the most seductively familiar voices in cinema.

Surely this ruthless political turn suggested her role as the Biggest Baddest Mama of them all in Manchurian Candidate.

There's not much that Tracy and Hepburn do here that you won't see them do elsewhere and better (Though they are quite good, if they hadn't made this, it wouldn't have mattered in either of their careers). Angela Lansbury is THE reason I would ever watch this again. That is one 'empowered' woman.
