Synopsis
Eight successful twenty-something professionals leave their jobs at the end of the day and enter the club-hopping L.A. nightlife to materialize their fantasies and do some serious partying. After one late evening of debauchery, two of the gang become passionately entangled and get way out of control. In the morning they must face the consequences of the events that took place between them while their friends try and extract the truth in their individual stories. A compellingly honest movie about sex and dating in the 90's.

An end of nineties and 20th century film which attempts to discuss issues of relationships between twenty-something men and women, sex, rape, and our opinions on each. It does not try to be too clever though, some of the characters are unsavoury but the cast are all young, fresh faced Hollywood stars, though not the huge names. It revolves around two groups of friends, men and women who discuss things like the first date, sex, and what they want in a partner. They meet on a night out and most end up sleeping with each other. However, the next day one of the women accuses one of the men of rape. We then see how each character rallies around their friends, how the men are pushed away at times, how each group can mistrust each other, and how the cops try to work it all out.
Jerry O Connell stars as Michael, a jock accused by Sara. We are then shown in flashback both sides of the story. Sara claims she was raped, but has a history of going with the wrong type of guy and being sexually forward. Michael says it was not rape, and that she consented, but he has a history of treating women as nothing other than shells to be screwed. As there is no real proof we have to make up our own minds, leaving us to think about the state of modern relationships. Amidst this bleak plot there is comedy in the film, and all the performances are good, particularly from Emily Procor whose part is small. The dialogue is witty with some funny lines, and the discussion between friends about sex is both humourous and honest and will please both sexes. At times it seems like a bizarre film- serious issues, though tackled with an amount of humour- titilating, though concerning serious issues. Nevertheless, it is worth watching.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this film but was overall pleasantly surprised after seeing it. It basically deals with 20's somethings attitudes towards sex and dating, still very relevant today! A group of friends have a wild night out and the film reflects on the very different outcomes of that night for each member of the group including an allegation of rape!
Starring quite a well known cast now, including Tara Reid, in quite a well known scene, Amanda Peet and Jerry O'Connell. This is well acted and a different film to most with quite a few soundbites and asides to the viewer about societies view on the subjects raised. Quite a good film dealing with a difficult topic and very thought provoking. Well worth a look.

Promising movie which fails to live up to cover jacket hype., 2 Oct 2000

A most exciting prospect, a movie containing a young ensemble, who could've starred in any of the recent teen-aimed comedy's (in fact, Body Shots Tara Reid starred in 1999's American Pie) finally take on a serious subject matter. Sex.Body Shots takes place over one night and the following morning. Four guys and four girls all meet up in a night club and through various courses, and end up hooking up with one another, in all manner of situations. Except not all goes according to plan. One of the couples have differing views on how far the evening should go. Body Shots is full of soundbytes from each of it's eight stars, presumably giving the varying opinions of 20-somethings on the movie's subject. However, these snippets of insight into the mind of these supposedly new adults are so contrived and predictable, they can in no way live up to the cover jacket's claim of having 'Memorable One Liners'. Body Shots in my mind, was an attempt to try something different to the cast's peers stereotypical teen comedy or horror that the past couple of years has restricted them to. Unfortunately, the wit of movies such as Scream, American Pie and 10 Things I Hate About You has not followed this group of actors into Body Shots. Must Try Harder.
