Bullock Crash Driver Denies DUI

The alleged drunk driver who plowed her car into actress Sandra Bullock's vehicle on Friday night has pleaded not guilty to driving under the influence (DUI). Bullock and her husband Jesse James were being driven home in a private vehicle in Gloucester, Massachusetts, at around 9:50pm when they were struck head-on by a gray Subaru station wagon. The Subaru is reported to have switched lanes and smashed into the front of Bullock's car. The driver of the Subaru, 64-year-old Lucille Gatchell, was arrested after failing a sobriety test, when she was reportedly two-and-a-half times over the legal limit. She was arraigned in a Massachusetts District Court on Tuesday, where she faced a charge of DUI and a marked lanes violation, reports People.com. At the court hearing, Gatchell used the opportunity to express her thanks to the couple for checking on her after the incident. Her defense attorney Benjamin Richard says, "Miss Gatchell is very relieved that no one was injured. She also wants to express her gratitude to Ms. Bullock and Mr. James for what she understands was their concern for her well being after the accident." Gatchell is next due in court on June 6 for a pre-trial hearing.
McGregor Speaks Out About Cancer Scare
Moulin Rouge actor Ewan McGregor has spoken out for the first time about his battle with skin cancer - insisting he has now been given the all-clear following the shock diagnosis. The star was diagnosed with the deadly disease following a regular check-up and subsequently underwent surgery to remove a number of malignant moles from his face. The 37-year-old has not disclosed when he suffered the disease, but internet bloggers claim he had the surgery in February 2007. But McGregor has now recovered fully from the illness and is convinced it was "not that big of a deal." He says, "I just went to have them checked, you have to be careful if you're pale skinned and you spend time in the sun, with moles. So I went to see a specialist who thought they were better to be removed, and indeed, he was correct."
Portman Tops List of Eco-Friendly Stars
Closer actress Natalie Portman has been named the most eco-friendly star, after topping a list of celebrities who go out of their way to care for the planet. The Hollywood beauty won a special mention by campaigners at green website Grist.org - who praised her work to save gorillas in Rwanda, her role as the face of a low-energy light bulb company and the launch of her vegan shoe range. Other stars to be honored by the planet-friendly firm include Leonardo DiCaprio, Cameron Diaz, Julia Roberts and Brad Pitt. However, organizers singled out a handful of A-listers as particularly non-environmentally friendly. The worst offenders were named as David Beckham, for the amount of flights he takes annually; British model Elizabeth Hurley, for flying 250 guests to her 2007 wedding in India, and The Spice Girls, for their use of private jets.

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes filled a rented Hollywood Hills home with $17,000 worth of fresh flowers and spent almost $5,000 on cakes for daughter Suri's second birthday bash on Saturday. The couple ordered personalized cakes from Los Angeles' Sweet Lady Jane bakery for all 24 guests, and a four-tiered treat was served up to the birthday girl. Cruise also ordered $230 worth of cupcakes from LA bakery Sprinkles - wife Holmes' favorite cake shop. Celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck catered the event, according to In Touch magazine. He also took charge of a later party for the Cruises' famous friends like Victoria Beckham, who also celebrated a birthday last week and Will Smith.

Collecting the Astra Award for Favorite Female Personality, Antonia held back tears as she accepted the honor onstage at the Hordern Pavilion. She said, "It is a sweet end to a sad day because my dad's in hospital." She refused to reveal more, but reports suggest the Kidman patriarch, a renowned psychologist, underwent scheduled heart surgery hours before his daughter collected her TV award.
McGowan Slams "Malicious" Barbarella Rumors

Actress Rose McGowan has hit back at "malicious" reports claiming the remake of Barbarella is to be axed, because producers want a more famous star in the lead role. The decision to cast McGowan in the role made famous by Jane Fonda, has faced criticism - because her boyfriend Robert Rodriguez is directing the movie. It was rumored producers were unhappy with Rodriguez's choice of lead actress, and have threatened to shelve the project unless he re-casts. But the former Charmed star insists there is no truth to the reports, claiming a delay in production is due to a potential actors strike which could hit the film industry later this year. She tells British magazine Heat, "It (the rumor) was irritating, very malicious and there was no proof."
Beyonce & Jay-Z File Wedding License
Beyonce Knowles and rapper Shawn 'Jay-Z' Carter have confirmed their marriage by filing their wedding license in Scarsdale, New York. The superstar couple, who began dating in 2002, was widely reported to have exchanged nuptials on April 4, but neither star has yet to publicly acknowledge they are man and wife - even refusing to wear wedding rings when out in public. However, People.com reveal the newlyweds have now sent in their signed license, which lists the wedding date as April 4, to the Scarsdale Town office - albeit more than a week after the April 9 deadline. But according to Scarsdale town clerk Donna Conkling, the loved-up stars will not face a penalty for the late filing, as the fine is frequently waived for new couples.

The Yentl star was due to attend a convention in Jerusalem, hosted by the country's president Shimon Peres, on May 13, where she was expected to perform a rendition of Hebrew prayer "Avinu Malkeinu" ("Our Father Our King"). According to a spokesperson for Peres' office, Streisand gave no explanation for pulling out of the event.
Marsden Afraid Of Sex Scene Scrutiny

Actor James Marsden is terrified of on-screen sex scenes, because he fears receiving bad critiques of his love-making techniques. The Enchanted star, 34, has yet to be faced with the task of raunchy love scenes, but he admits he already cringes at the thought of being so closely scrutinized by the rest of the cast and crew. He tells British magazine Closer, "It's so embarrassing with everyone watching you. It's the opposite of romantic. I already feel like the crew are judging me, so imagine doing a sex scene. They'd be thinking: 'Ooh, is that how he does it in real life?' Awful! I don't know how I'd react if I was offered a part with a sex scene. My wife would tell me to do it, though. She wants people to see that I'm sexy."
Sambora Pleads Guilty To Drunk Driving
Bon Jovi star Richie Sambora has plea bargained his way out of a potential prison term after accepting he was guilty of drunk driving in Laguna Beach, California last month. Facing up to six months behind bars at his arraignment in May, the rocker pleaded no contest to driving with a blood alcohol level of .08 or higher in court on Tuesday. As a result, a DUI charge was dismissed, together with a charge of child endangerment for driving drunk with his daughter and her cousin as passengers. Prosecutors in the case refused to file the child endangerment charges, despite prompting from Laguna Beach police officials. Represented in court by Mel Gibson and Lindsay Lohan's former attorney, Blair Berk, Sambora was ordered to pay fines and damages amounting an estimated $1,600. Tmz.com also reports the rocker will be placed on probation for three years and must attend an alcohol education course.
