Kidman "Frightened" by Photographer

Actress Nicole Kidman has told a court how she feared for her life after she was pursued by a photographer in Sydney, Australia two years ago. The Moulin Rouge star gave evidence at photographer Jamie Fawcett's defamation suit against a regional newspaper which publicly criticized him for allegedly hounding Kidman. The star told New South Wales state Supreme Court on Monday how she was at the centre of a high speed car chase as she traveled to her parents' home in another part of the city for dinner in January 2005. Kidman told the court she was "really, really scared" during the car ride and that she was "in tears and distressed" by the time she reached her parents' house. She said, "I was frightened and I was worried there was going to be an accident." Kidman also described two occasions when Fawcett had allegedly been intrusive when trying to photograph her - once while she was on her honeymoon with country music star Keith Urban in Tahiti in 2006, and again after Christmas in Sydney last year. She said his intrusion of her privacy had prompted her to employ full-time security guards. She adds, "I have been pursued many times. I have had this happen in relation to this particular man ... so many times. I employ people to protect me now. I employ people 24 hours to protect myself because I don't feel equipped to handle things." Paparazzo Jamie Fawcett, 41, is suing John Fairfax Publications, the publishers behind local newspaper the Sun-Herald, after they ran a January 2005 article accusing Fawcett of allegedly planting a listening device outside Kidman's Sydney home. The article was found by a jury to be defamatory last year and the current hearing aims to determine whether John Fairfax Publications are liable for damages.
Clooney Taped Confronting Photographers

A videotape of George Clooney angrily confronting two photographers for driving dangerously has surfaced online. The Michael Clayton star was riding his motorcycle, with girlfriend Sarah Larson, along Los Angeles' Mulholland Drive when he pulled over to tell off the overly-aggressive paparazzi. Clooney and Larson were injured when they were knocked off a Harley Davison motorcycle the actor had rented during a September trip to New Jersey, and the actor was worried another accident would occur if he didn't object to the photographers' irresponsible driving. In a video of the incident, obtained by website Tmz.com, an angry Clooney says, "You broke some laws, I want to find out what your license plate number is. How many laws did you break, pal?... You cut me up... How many people did you put in danger? You drove like a maniac down here. At least understand that you're putting people in danger... I've been down on a motorcycle and the last thing I want to do is get thumped." The two photographers involved then apologized to Clooney, before the actor drove off. Clooney and Larson received hospital treatment after their September crash - he was treated for a rib fracture and grazes, while Larson saw doctors for two broken toes.
Meyers Told Magazine His Drinking Days Were Over
Jonathan Rhys Meyers faces another embarrassment about his drunken behavior this last weekend - he's featured in the new issue of men's magazine Details insisting his boozing days are over. The Irish actor was arrested by police after a drunken clash with airport staff at Dublin airport on Sunday after he was told he was "unfit to travel." The incident took place after the 30-year-old, who entered rehab to battle his alcoholism earlier this year, spent months telling interviewers he was winning his battle with the bottle. He tells Details, "I didn't drink until I was 25, and I never drank every day, but when I did, it was bad. It would be a couple of days that just wouldn't work out for me, waking up with a hangover. Drink doesn't fit into the groove of where my life is going." In another recent interview with Complex magazine, the actor admitted not drinking is "difficult." He said, "I'm 30 years old and Irish."
Osmond Apologizes to King
Donny Osmond has apologized to TV talk show host Larry King after criticizing him for revealing live on air that his sister Marie Osmond's son, Michael, was in rehab. King blurted out the news during his show on November 14, leaving Marie struggling to fight back tears as her brother helped comfort her. Marie told King, "My son was put into a rehab... My son is amazing... He is the most amazing kid." At the time, Donny insisted King's line of questioning which led to the revelation was unfair - but he has now retracted his comments after learning the story was about to be broken by the tabloids. He says, "I was very upset about it. I thought it was very unfair for Larry King to throw that question at Marie the way he did. (But) I have to back up and apologize publicly to Larry King because I came out and said some things against him. In hindsight, Larry King did Marie a favor. She was able to make a statement about the situation. ... And so she's grateful to Larry." Marie, who has eight children, has not disclosed where 16-year-old Michael is being treated or the nature of his problem.
Collins' DUI Court Date Postponed

Actor Gary Collins has had his court date for drink-driving charges postponed - to allow him more time to complete his stint in rehab. The American TV star was arrested in Los Angeles in October after crashing his black Ford Explorer into a blue Toyota while driving through Sherman Oaks. The collision caused Collins to lose control and career into oncoming traffic, where he smashed into two parked cars. Collins was charged with driving under the influence and driving with a blood alcohol level above the legal 0.08 percent. The 69-year-old checked into an undisclosed rehabilitation facility shortly after his arrest - and on Friday, a California judge decided to postpone his arraignment until December 6, giving Collins extra time to finish his 60-day treatment. If convicted, he could face a $1,000 fine and six months in jail.
Broker Threatens To Sue Spears Over Wrecked Apartment
Britney Spears is facing yet more legal trouble after allegedly trashing a $1.5 million apartment in Marina Del Rey, California. Real-estate broker Amir E. Zagross is threatening to sue the pop star for damaging the condo she leased in August 2006 "beyond repair." He tells Life & Style magazine, "I met Britney at the condo myself with her mother, brother, sons and her bodyguards. They assured me they were immaculate, nice people who would take care of the property. But the damage was significant." According to a source, the Spears family caused damage to the walls, flooring, balcony, doors, electrical outlets and air conditioning. Zagross adds, "They destroyed it. We couldn't re-rent the condo because of the state it was in."
Writers Strike Halts Arquette Film

Actress-turned-director Rosanna Arquette has given her support to the Hollywood writers' strike - despite the ongoing struggle halting production on her new movie God Is My Co-Pilot. The Desperately Seeking Susan star experienced first-hand the effects of the ongoing strike after she was prevented from working with a screenwriter on the film script due to the Writers Guild of America (WGA) action. But Arquette isn't bitter about the protests. She says, "The strike affects us all in Hollywood. I am trying to direct my first [feature] film and I want Laura Dern as my lead. It is a difficult situation. In fact, it is going to be a revolution. Creative people who have the ideas are right to want more than the measly amount of money they get now." Members of the WGA have been staging walk-outs since November 5 after talks between the union and studio representatives failed to resolve a dispute over royalties.
Irwin's Daughter Snubs Hollywood

Australian adventurer Steve Irwin's daughter Bindi Irwin has turned down the opportunity to star in a Hollywood movie. The nine-year-old has attracted the attention of movie producers since her father was killed by a stingray in November 2006, according to her manager John Stainton. Instead she will remain at the Queensland zoo, which was founded by the Crocodile Hunter, with her mother Terri Irwin. Stainton says, "There has been lots of interest from lots of parties in the States. But it's one of those things we're not doing. While Bindi lives at the zoo in Beerwah, she has every chance of being a normal kid. I think the influences she would get from having to live in Hollywood, or do a movie in Hollywood, would be different." Since her father's death, Bindi has launched a clothing line and a children's fitness DVD, appeared in a stage show and become an official Australian tourism ambassador.
