'Da Vinci Code' Prequel Hit Hard by Strike

Tom Hanks' The Da Vinci Code prequel Angels & Demons has become the first big screen casualty of the Hollywood writer's strike. Executives at Columbia Pictures have postponed production on the Ron Howard film as the strike begins a third week. Sources claim Oscar-winning screenwriter Akiva Goldsman's script still needs work, and he is on strike with his Writers Guild of America brethren. The film bosses have also put the film's release date back from the end of 2008 to 2009. The strike has already hammered TV schedules in America with all late-night chat shows immediately shutting down and production on a host of sitcoms and dramas coming to a halt.

Portman Named Style Queen

Natalie Portman has topped a new style list, beating best pals Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz. The Closer actress has been named number one on the InStyle magazine Style 20. Portman topped the list because "she exhibits unwavering faith in the cut and quality of a great dress." The top 10 is: 1. Natalie Portman; 2. Drew Barrymore; 3. Cameron Diaz; 4. Penelope Cruz; 5. Jennifer Lopez; 6. Anne Hathaway; 7. Cate Blanchett; 8. Sienna Miller; 9. Helen Mirren; 10. Joy Bryant.

Armstrong Denies Olsen Romance

Lance Armstrong has denied rumors he is romancing actress-turned-fashion designer Ashley Olsen - who is 15 years his junior. The couple were rumored to be dating after they were spotted enjoying an intimate dinner at the Gramercy Park Hotel bar in New York last month. However, Armstrong, 36 insists he is not romantically involved with the 21-year-old. He tells New York Post's gossip column PageSix, "Ashley Olsen and I are strictly friends. We have hung out amongst other friends, and she strikes me as a nice, smart lady."

Rhys Meyers Arrested for Airport Tirade

Irish actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers has been arrested by police after a drunken clash with airport staff. The Tudors star is reported to have launched into an angry tirade at Dublin airport on Sunday after being told he was "unfit to travel." He was then charged and spent the night in the cells. The incident took place as the handsome 30-year-old - who entered rehab citing alcohol as the problem earlier this year - tried to check in for a flight back to London, where he is now based, after appearing on an Irish chat show hours earlier. According to British newspaper The Sun, witnesses saw the star being verbally abusive to a female airport worker, and repeatedly insisting: "I will get on this flight, no matter what." A police spokesman said he was due to face two public order charges in court in Dublin on Monday. His agent was unavailable for comment.

Spears Can't Drive With Her Kids in the Car

Britney Spears has been banned from driving with her young sons in the same car after her ex-husband Kevin Federline's attorney called an emergency court hearing to question her road skills. Commissioner Scott Gordon ruled two-year-old Sean Preston and his younger brother Jayden James can no longer hit the roads of Hollywood with their mum after a closed-door, 90-minute hearing in Los Angeles on Friday morning. Mark Vincent Kaplan, Federline's lawyer, called for the hearing after Spears was caught on tape running a red light with her two children in the back seat. The new order is the latest blow for Spears in her custody battle. She was stripped of physical custody of the boys last month. The singer and Federline are expected back in court on November 26.

Margulies Weds

Snakes On A Plane actress Julianna Margulies has married fiance Keith Lieberthal in a small ceremony in Lenox, Massachusetts. The Emmy-winning star, 41, walked down the aisle last weekend to exchange nuptials with lawyer Lieberthal. He father, Paul, tells People.com, "It was all traditional. It was very touching. She was radiant. It was beautiful. We're thrilled for her, and the young man she married is a wonderful person. We're proud to have him as a part of our family." And hardworking Margulies - who is seven months pregnant - skipped her honeymoon to return to work in California, where she is shooting new TV series, Canterbury's Law. Her dad adds, "They're both very busy."

Martha Stewart's Mother Dies

Lifestyle queen Martha Stewart's mother has died. She was 93. Martha Kostyra - who was nicknamed 'Big Martha' - passed away at Norwalk Hospital near her home in Weston, Connecticut, on Friday after suffering a stroke early last week. Stewart, 66, has often credited Kostyra for teaching her all she knows about the tips and tricks of domestic work, and she frequently appeared alongside her daughter on her morning TV show, Martha. Stewart broke the news of her mother's death on her website on Saturday, where she posted video clips of the two together on her blog. She writes: "I am very sad to tell you that my mom passed away. Here's a tribute to Martha Kostyra - Big Martha." Widowed Kostyra, a retired teacher, is survived by her six children.

Parton Film Takes to the Stage

The stage version of Dolly Parton's 1980 hit movie Nine To Five will open at a theatre in Los Angeles next year. The show - which has a score written by the country star and includes the hit single of the same name - will premiere at the Center Theatre Group's Ahmanson Theatre in September 2008 and run for one month. Megan Hilty will take on the role made famous by Parton in the original movie, with Allison Janney playing Lily Tomlin's part and Stephanie J. Block in Jane Fonda's former role. The musical tells the story of three office workers who plot against their sexist boss and will be directed by Wicked's Joe Mantello. Michael Ritchie, Artistic Director of the Center Theatre Group, says, "I will say this about Dolly Parton, she is unbelievable in her (theater) skills. She really understands the Broadway idiom. It's this great mix between her own personal style and sort of a classic Broadway show. The score sounds great." It's not known whether the production will transfer to New York for a Broadway run but Ritchie insists it "has the potential."

Lopez Dismisses Pregnancy Problems

Jennifer Lopez has reassured fans her pregnancy is going well after reports claimed she suffered a health scare earlier this month. The Out Of Sight star - who confirmed she is expecting last week - was alleged to have been taken to a U.S. hospital after noticing spots of blood in her urine. She was also said to have been ordered to cut back on her busy schedule by doctors. But a spokesperson for the 38-year-old singer/actress, who has just completed a North American tour with her husband Marc Anthony, insists there is no truth to the rumors. The representative tells People.com, "Despite erroneous reports of Jennifer Lopez having difficulties with her pregnancy, we are happy to confirm she is very healthy and continuing with her schedule as planned."

Fabio: "Clooney Is a Scumbag"

Actor Fabio has branded George Clooney "a low-class scumbag" after allegedly insulting female diners at a Hollywood restaurant. The romance icon stunned diners at the swanky Madeo eaterie when he exchanged fighting words with Clooney on November 2. But Fabio insists he was defending guests at his charity function and was forced to take action when a female dining companion complained Clooney called her "a fat cow." He says, "(George) was drunk and thought people were taking pictures of him. So I went to the table and explained to him that we were having a charity dinner and I said, 'You're more than welcome to come to my table and see if there was a picture of you.' I apologized and he started being rude so I put him in his place. After I put him in his place - you know I'm three times his size - he got a little scared. I went back to my table and as soon as I sit down he paid his bill, got up and he started insulting the girls. He called the women names. At that point I lost my temper. I went after him and he ran out of the restaurant. You have to be a low-class, scumbag to start calling a woman a name. If you're a man, you should never. You should be a gentleman. These women were with me and as a man I defend them. He was lucky he ran out of the restaurant. He's not even half a man."
