Celebrities Blast Spears' Comeback Performance

Britney Spears has found that rap stars Akon and Common blasted her much-hyped comeback performance at the MTV Video Music Awards in Las Vegas on Sunday. The singer, making her first major public appearance in four years, wore a silver and black sparkly underwear set and knee-high black boots to debut her upcoming single "Gimme More." But her critics claimed she looked disinterested and unfit. And her fellow celebrity pals seemed to agree. Speaking backstage after the event, Akon said, "That could have been better. She needed to focus more. She looked nervous and I think the pressure got to her." While Common added, "I think it didn't seem like she wanted to be there. There wasn't any spark, it didn't feel like life was there." There was more bad news for Spears - she also had to weather a withering remark from comedienne Sarah Silverman at the ceremony. She sarcastically remarked, "Was that incredible? Britney Spears. Wow. She is amazing. She is 25-years-old and she's already accomplished everything she's going to accomplish in her life. It's mind blowing."

Kid Rock Cited for Misdemeanor Assault

Kid Rock has been ordered by Las Vegas police to appear in court next month following his attack on rocker Tommy Lee at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday. Rock, real name Robert James Ritchie, was ejected from the Nevada ceremony in front of thousands of fans after punching the Motley Crue drummer. Although neither star was arrested at the time of the incident, both rockers were later questioned by local authorities with Ritchie receiving a citation for the assault. A spokesman for the Las Vegas Police Department tells Tmz.com, "A little after 8:00pm last night we received a call that a disturbance had occurred at the MTV Video Music Awards. We had a lot of officers working in and around the awards so they got her fairly quickly. We determined that the altercation was between Kid Rock and Tommy Lee. After our investigation, Kid Rock did receive a citation for misdemeanor battery. Everyone involved was interviewed." Ritchie will appear in court in the next three to five weeks, where he faces a maximum sentence of six months behind bars. Both Lee and Ritchie have been married to former Baywatch beauty Pamela Anderson, but it is unclear whether she was the cause of the fight.

Smith & Theron Shut Down Hollywood

Will Smith and Charlize Theron's new action film continues to wreak havoc on Los Angeles traffic after taking over a block of Hollywood Boulevard. After causing major traffic disruption late last month when producers shut down a large section of the 105 freeway to shoot a chase sequence, the film, Hancock, has moved to the heart of Hollywood. The famous boulevard was shut down for three days early on Monday - and that was bad news for busy commuters who use the area for work. One angry driver tells WENN, "It's bad enough when there's a major premiere on Hollywood Boulevard - that snarls up the traffic. But for three days! Not everyone in this town is a tourist or a member of the film industry."

Trump Hits Back at "Liar" O'Donnell in New Book

Tycoon Donald Trump has attacked Rosie O'Donnell in his new book Think Big And Kick Ass - calling the U.S. TV personality a "loser." The pair have been feuding since Trump's appearance on O'Donnell's former show The View earlier this year, which turned nasty. They have bickered in the media ever since - and the billionaire has turned to his literary effort, in a bid to have the last word. He tells the New York Post's gossip column PageSix, "I devote some time to Rosie in my book, as you know, she said I went bankrupt and ABC apologized. Rosie lies. I got angry because I never went bankrupt. I'm worth $8 billion today. She never said that. She writes false stuff... Rosie is a loser, a very sad case - unattractive both inside and out. I'll make a little wager my book sells a lot more than hers." But Trump isn't the only one committing his thoughts on the feud to print. In her new book Celebrity Detox, O'Donnell calls Trump "a torn scarecrow" and "a slug."

Foster Offended by 'Sin City'

Jodie Foster has ripped into Robert Rodriguez's Sin City because she found the film offensive. While many critics raved about the director's adaptation of Frank Miller's comic book, Foster admits it's one of the most recent films she switched off after renting it on DVD. Foster rants, "That was so painfully cartoonish I was offended." And she admits that she doesn't enjoy watching films based around abduction and child molestation - as the mother of two young boys. She tells newspaper USA Today, "I don't know how you enjoy or laugh about a child abduction and molestation. What part of that sentence is funny? I can't get beyond that. I don't know if everyone understands the impact of that movie's message."

Brooke Shields Drives Into Her House

Actress Brooke Shields almost brought the house she shares with her husband and children down on top of her when she drove into an outdoor beam. Shields admits she was "multitasking" in her car when her high-heeled shoes became tangled up in the pedals and she careered into the house. She tells America's Fitness magazine, "I drove into the beam that supports our house! I was wearing these enormously high heels and one of them got stuck on the pedal. I said to my husband (Chris Henchy), 'Should that beam really be there? Maybe we can move it.' And he was like, 'Uh, it holds up the whole place!'"

Campbell Rejects 'Bubba Ho-tep' Sequel

Actor Bruce Campbell has turned down the chance to star as Elvis Presley once again in the sequel to Bubba Ho-tep, insisting the character is "dead to him." Campbell has been offered the lead role in the comedy Bubba Nosferatu and the Curse of the She-Vampires, but rejected the opportunity because he and director Don Coscarelli have failed to solve their creative differences. He tells Fangoria magazine, "Don Coscarelli is a very passionate filmmaker. We got to a few points that we couldn't reconcile. I want to keep our friendship, so we parted ways. So I'm not part of that project."

Stevie Nicks Won't Reunite With Fleetwood Mac

Singer Stevie Nicks is refusing to reunite with her former Fleetwood Mac bandmates, unless fellow vocalist Christine McVie also returns. The star last recorded with her former bandmates on 2003's Say You Will album, but has since resisted offers to go on the road with them again, unless McVie - who quit the group in 1998 - is on board with the reunion. She says, "I don't like it as the boys' club. We could make millions and millions of dollars touring again. But I just don't know if I want to go again without Chris."

Ormond Splits With Husband?

British actress Julia Ormond is splitting up with her husband of eight years, according to media reports. The Legends Of The Fall beauty is "in the process" of ending her second marriage to political activist Jon Rubin, reports the New York Post's gossip column, PageSix. The couple have a three-year-old daughter together. Ormond's first marriage to actor Rory Edwards ended in 1994.

Sizemore Starts Jail Sentence

Disgraced movie star Tom Sizemore has begun serving time for probation violation in relation to a 2004 methamphetamine conviction. The Black Hawk Down star was moved from Los Angeles County Jail to state prison, according to Tmz.com. The actor was sentenced to serve a reduced nine months sentence in June.
