Kate Slams Co-star Fling Reports

Actress Kate Winslet is outraged by reports that her three-year marriage ended after she had an affair with her Enigma co-star. Kate, 25, announced that she was separating from assistant director husband Jim Threapleton last Monday and her spokesman said, "No other parties are involved in this amicable and respectful separation." However on Sunday British tabloid the News Of The World reported that Kate was seeking comfort from Dougray Scott, who recently split from his wife Sarah. Yesterday Kate revealed her anger at the reports, saying, "I don't know anything about Dougray and Sarah and their situation." She slammed the reports as, "the most ridiculous thing I've heard". Dougray backed up Kate's response, by issuing a statement saying, "I want to make it clear Kate Winslet and myself have never been in any kind of romantic relationship."
Keanu Forced To Do Film After Forgery

Hollywood heart-throb Keanu Reeves was forced into starring in The Watcher - because his friend signed the contact for him. The Speed star was dismayed to find a pal has forged his signature on the agreement to appear in the Joe Charbanic and Jeff Jensen movie and only went through filming with it to avoid a lawsuit. Keanu revealed he was under a year's gagging order, and after arriving in Toronto, Canada for the Toronto Film Festival to promote his new film Hardball, he was relieved to finally speak. He says, "If it's September that means it's been a year so I can finally talk. I never found that script interesting, but a friend of mine forged my signature on an agreement. I couldn't prove he did and I didn't want to get sued for not honoring the contract so I had no other choice but to do the film."
British Actors Strike Looming

In the wake of the avoided American actors strike, British actors are meeting up with their agents today to discuss a possible strike next Tuesday. Famous Names from the British isles such as Oscar-nominated Julie Walters and Moulin Rouge hunk Ewan McGregor are backing an actors protest over rights for bonus payments. Actors union Equity is meeting with its members agents for support in the disagreement against the Producers' Alliance For Cinema And Television ( Pact). In Britain, actors receive a one-off payment for any future broadcasts or sales of a film they have been in, and no matter how successful the film is, the money goes to the producers and distributors. Despite his lucky stance as a Hollywood superstar, Scottish Ewan has not forgotten his early days as struggling actor. Ewan fumes, "I am tired of making producers and distributors rich while I and my fellow actors are exploited." This Sunday all members of Equity will be invited to an open meeting to discuss the rights and royalties issues.
Steve Martin: Heche Is A "Dim, Dim Memory"

Comedian Steve Martin has no revelations about wacky ex-girlfriend Anne Heche - he says he can barely remember their relationship. The silver-haired Texan refused to watch his former flame's intimate interview with Barbara Walters on 20/20 last week because he has no interest in her life. He says, "The whole thing with me and her happened eight years ago. It's like a dim, dim memory." After the ex-lover of Ellen DeGeneres confessed to hearing voices in her head during the time she dated the Bowfinger actor, Steve pleads ignorance. He continues, "No, I didn't have any experience with that at all, sorry."
Pacino Struggled To Be In The Godfather
Al Pacino was screen-tested five times before finally getting the part of Michael Corleone in The Godfather. Then a little-known stage actor, the Hollywood legend became so fed up he even begged director Francis Ford Coppola not to put him through any more tests. He says, "I think they wanted a movie star, which I absolutely was not. But to make it worse, I screen-tested on a scene that didn't really allow me to show my chops. I kept thinking, 'This is ridiculous. These people don't want me, and I don't want to be around when they feel that away. Besides, I think they might be right.' At one point, I just begged Francis, 'No more auditions, no more screen tests. I can live without this part.'" The studio thought Pacino was too meek and mild for the part, and the method acting star has never forgiven them. He adds, "When we finished the movie, the same people who were against me and put me down whenever they could were all for me. But then they couldn't understand why I didn't want anything to do with them."
Caine Reckons Remakes Are Rubbish
Michael Caine has ruled out any more cameos in remakes of his old movies, after Get Carter was panned by critics. The British big screen star, who spent a couple of days filming for the Sylvester Stallone film, thinks people should only reshoot films which were flops the first time around. He says, "Don't remake a successful picture, because you're liable to be the flop. Steve Martin and I made a much better picture of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels than Marlon Brando and David Niven did. What I wouldn't do anymore is play any guest shots. I've given that up. I did it as some fun and it backfired in Get Carter so I'm not doing it again." But there's one film remake Caine is excited by. He says, "Now I hear that they're going to remake The Italian Job with me in the Noel Coward part. I'd consider it, yes."
Andie Macdowell Slashes Chaplin Rumors
Andie MacDowell would like to get something off her chest for once and for all - she is not Charlie Chaplin's illegitimate daughter. The bizarre rumour has dogged the beauty ever since she was a top model, and the "completely false" story is "particularly big in South America". Andie says, "Just last week a friend of mine sent me a clipping from Mexico's main newspaper showing me confessing about what it was like having Chaplin as a father but still having to keep it such a terrible secret." But there is an upside to the weird publicity - she adds, "It makes my movies more popular there."
Brando Acts Wacko At Jacko's Bash

Giant movie legend Marlon Brando shocked the audience at Michael Jackson's 30th anniversary bash - by getting up on stage and talking nonsense. The heavyweight Godfather star was a guest of honor at the concert in New York's Madison Square Garden, but even Jackson was left bemused when the actor began to speak. After taking a seat, Brando introduced himself saying, "You may be thinking, who is that old fat fart sitting there?" He then enlightened the packed crowd by removing his watch and informing them, "In the last minute, 100,000 children have been hacked to death with a machete." The 77-year-old Oscar-winner - who played a madman in 1979 hit film Apocalypse Now - was eventually booed off the stage after rambling on for 10 minutes.
Ewan Can't Wait For New Baby
Moulin Rouge star Ewan McGregor has no problems with getting up in the middle of the night to change a baby's diaper - and is looking forward to becoming a dad for the second time next month. He says,"That's what it's all about. I can't wait to have the new child because it's years since Ciara was a baby. It'll be a brand new experience all over again. I was with a friend of mine recently who was dying and while he was lying there with his family around his bed, I just knew that was it, that was the best you can hope for in life - to have your family and the people who love you around you at the end. You don't want people from work standing around you."
Hilary Swank Puts Off Babies

Oscar winning actress Hilary Swank has put the idea of starting a family on hold - much to husband Chad Lowe's distress. Lowe is desperate to become a father but it's Hilary who's put her foot down, because of her career. The actress, who won the Best Actress Oscar for her role in Boys Don't Cry admits, "He really wants to have babies. But I've been getting such great opportunities - I'm so lucky - I want to take advantage of some of them while I can. I have two things coming up and then I'll think about having a baby."
