Fey in “Great News”: NBC

Tina Fey is high fiving a million angels. She and Robert Carlock are set to receive an honor from The Writers Guild of America, East, a press release has announced. Google Confirms Wonder Woman As Most-Searched Comic Book Movie Of 2017, But It Takes Home Top Prize

Wonder Woman is many things to many people – a modern feminist icon, an inspired tale of heroism, Gal Gadot’s launch pad to superstardom…you name it.

It’s also the highest-rated comic book movie of the year, according to Rotten Tomatoes, which placed Wonder Woman in the same bracket as Logan, Thor: Ragnarok and Spider-Man: Homecoming. But Patty Jenkins’ critically-adorned origins movie reigned supreme in another ranking: Google’s Year in Search for 2017.

And so, after crowning Avengers: Infinity War as the year’s most popular trailer, Google has revealed Wonder Woman to be the most-searched comic book movie of 2017. And we can’t say we’re surprised.

Back in June, the Patty Jenkins-directed period piece took the world by storm with its heartfelt story and instantly likable characters – the chemistry between Gal Gadot and Chris Pine was arguably worth the price of admission alone – while word of

According to Patty Jenkins, the Wonder Woman Sequel Will Be "a Great Love Story"

To say Wonder Woman crushed the box office would be an understatement. Words like "obliterated" or "demolished" are more apt, given the film's record-setting $103.1 million domestic opening and its badass, empowering message. Everyone from Lupita Nyong'o to Chris Hemsworth couldn't help but gush about director Patty Jenkins and star Gal Gadot, so it came as no surprise that the Hollywood gods answered all of our prayers with a sequel. Only a few small details have been released so far, so let's get to it. The Story Wonder Woman begins on Diana Prince's home island of Themyscira and later moves to a Europe torn apart by World War I. For the sequel, Jenkins suggested bringing the superhero across the pond. "The story will take place in the U.S., which I think is right," the director told Entertainment Weekly during an interview in June. "She's Wonder Woman. She's got to come to America.

Star Trek: Quentin Tarantino has pitched idea for new film

Simon Brew Dec 5, 2017

Quentin Tarantino might embark on a mission to direct a Star Trek film for Paramount.

Following last year’s Star Trek Beyond, Paramount Pictures quickly confirmed that it was looking to make another movie in the series, this one originally set to bring back Chris Hemsworth alongside Chris Pine. But it seems as though progress has been relatively slow, with no sign of the movie roaring towards the screen.

But a surprise name may now be in the frame for the next Star Trek film. Although it won’t be a surprise if you’ve read the headline to this article, of course.

Quentin Tarantino – who is prepping his next movie, to release in August 2019 – has come up with an idea for a Star Trek feature, one that he pitched to movie series producer Jj Abrams. Abrams appears taken with it too, and the next plan for

Quentin Tarantino Pitches ‘Star Trek’ Idea to Direct, As J.J. Abrams Plans Writers Room
Once Quentin Tarantino is done with the 1960s, he may next head to space — specifically, the “Star Trek” universe, for a feature film potentially produced by J.J. Abrams.

Deadline is reporting that Tarantino came up with “a great idea” for a potential “Trek” film which he then pitched to Abrams. The potential plan is for Tarantino and a group of writers to develop the idea, resulting in a script that Tarantino may direct.

Abrams is of course also busy with another space-set franchise, “Star Wars Episode IX.” But his involvement would suggest that the Tarantino film would take place in what fans know as “the Kelvin-verse” and others know as “the ‘Star Trek’ movies that star Chris Pine instead of William Shatner,” though there’s no guarantee. How this might connect to the plans that are already underway for a fourth “Star Trek” Kelvin-verse film (which made news last January

New promo released for Amazon's new Jack Ryan reboot show

  • JoBlo
I sometimes feel bad for John Krasinski, especially how he was apparently turned away from the role of Captain America because of his association with The Office. As someone who - ever since Heath Ledger - now gives every outside casting choices a chance, that alway felt like a shitty move on both the fans and studios part (if true). Then I remember that Chris Pine kills it in the role, and also Krasinski is... Read More...

Recommended New Books on Filmmaking: ‘Blade Runner 2049,’ Francis Ford Coppola, David Bowie & More

It’s been a stellar year of cinema and pop culture-themed books, and the texts (and Blu-rays) in this round-up all make fine gifts. It’s a satisfying companion to season three of Peaks, not to mention Frost’s own Secret History of Twin Peaks. So be sure to check out Nick Newman’s recent interview with the Peaks co-creator.

Live Cinema and Its Techniques by Francis Ford Coppola (Liveright)

The legendary Francis Ford Coppola has spoken of “live cinema” with regularity over the years, specifically with respect to 1981’s One From the Heart. That film, a box office flop now held in some regard, is an essential part of Live Cinema and Its Techniques, a fascinating new book authored by Coppola himself. The lessons from that experience, Coppola says,

Wonder Woman 2 Will Be Another Great Love Story

Wonder Woman 2 Will Be Another Great Love Story
After the groundbreaking success of this summer's colossal hit Wonder Woman, it was no surprise when the sequel Wonder Woman 2 was officially announced at Comic-Con, and now director Patty Jenkins has shed some new light on the story. While the December 13, 2019 date was first announced at Sdcc, it was confirmed earlier this month that the Wonder Woman 2 release date has been bumped up to November 1, 2019, with filming set to begin next summer and director Patty Jenkins currently working on the script with a new writer, Dave Callaham (Godzilla), who came aboard in September. During a recent podcast appearance, Patty Jenkins shed some light on what the sequel will cover, revealing a great love story that tackles some big issues as well, while introducing some new characters.

"It's really still going to other values of hers, and a similar formula insofar as making a great, enjoyable fun movie but

Patty Jenkins Teases A New Love Story For Diana In Wonder Woman 2

There were many things that made Wonder Woman one of the best superhero movies of the year, and among them was the brilliant romance between Diana and Steve Trevor. Often, comic book film couples are undercooked and cliched, but Ww managed to serve up a fun, believable but ultimately tragic love story for Gal Gadot and Chris Pine’s characters. The sad thing is, though, that this can’t be explored in the upcoming sequel, due to Steve sacrificing his life to stop the war.

While appearing on a recent episode of Variety’s Playback Podcast, director Patty Jenkins was on hand to tease that she has a new romance planned for the Amazon warrior in Wonder Woman 2. She hinted that it’ll follow the first movie by featuring “more weight and profundity” but will also include some “unbelievable” new additions that will give the sequel a “very different” edge.

Stunning Fan Art Renders American Gods Star Ricky Whittle As The New Green Lantern

The list of actors who have allegedly come into contention for Green Lantern Corps is as long as it is tantalizing.

That’s because Warner Bros. is presumably still casting the net in search of their Hal Jordan/John Stewart combo, and to date, Jake Gyllenhaal (The Batman?), Armie Hammer, Bradley Cooper, Joel McHale, Chris Pine, Common, Tyrese Gibson, Matthew McConau–and, well, you get the idea.

Point is, Warner’s casting process for Green Lantern Corps is ongoing, and thanks to screenwriter Michael Green, Ricky Whittle of American Gods fame has now been tossed into the proverbial hat. This past weekend, Green, who was credited as the writer of 2011’s botched Green Lantern movie alongside Marc Guggenheim and Greg Berlanti, voiced his support of Whittle, stating:

I’ll probably get angry texts if I don’t say what’s in my heart which is that Ricky Whittle would make a fantastic John Stewart.
