Blu-ray Review – The House (2017)

The House, 2017.

Directed by Andrew Jay Cohen.

Starring Will Ferrell, Amy Poehler, Jason Mantzoukas, Nick Kroll, Ryan Simpkins, and Jeremy Renner

Synopsis:

Forty somethings Scott and Kate Johansen (Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler) are proud that their daughter Alex (Ryan Simpkins) is going to college. She’s done so well that she’s getting a scholarship from the council to cover her tuition fees – except that it’s pulled due to budget cuts. Neither of them can raise extra money from their employers, but friend Frank (Jason Mantzoukas) comes up with an idea that could be the answer to their financial problems, as well as his. Open up a casino in his basement.

Saturday Night Live veterans Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler re-team as a suburban married couple in the comedy The House, a funny, if flawed, comedy that showcases the chemistry between the two actors even if the jokes don’t always land.

First Trailer for Cheesy High School Horror Thriller 'Deadly Detention'

"Attention students, the rules have changed. I am your new principal." Yes, I fully admit this looks terrible, but thankfully you don't have to waste any time or money on this if you don't want to - all trailers are free to watch! Deadly Detention, originally known as The Detained before the title change, is a new horror thriller about five "archetypal teens" (eye roll already) serving detention who "find themselves in a life or death situation." The main cast includes Henry Zaga, Alex Frnka, Sarah Davenport, Coy Stewart, Jennifer Robyn Jacobs, Kevin Blake, and Gillian Vigman. At least they admit in the description that the characters are archetypal, because everything about this looks cheesy and awful and not worth watching. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Blair Hayes' Deadly Detention, direct from YouTube: Stuck together for Saturday detention, five high school students with nothing in common find

New Mutants Finds Its Mirage and Sunspot
20th Century Fox is filling out its cast for their highly-anticipated New Mutants movie, with two more actors signing on. After being rumored for the Sunspot role earlier this month, Henry Zaga has officially come aboard, with newcomer Blu Hunt also signing on to play Dani Moonstar, a.k.a. Mirage. Blu Hunt was mentioned in a report last month as one of the contenders for that role, alongside True O'Brien. These two roles fill out the main cast, with just one key role left to be filled at this time.

Writer-director Josh Boone took to Instagram last May to reveal the characters that would be featured in his New Mutants movie. Those characters were Magik, Wolfsbane, Dani Moonstar, Cannonball, Sunspot and Warlock. After months of rumors, it was finally confirmed that Anya Taylor-Joy will play Magik, with Maisie Williams portraying Wolfsbane. More recently, Stranger Things star Charlie Heaton has come aboard to play Cannonball,
