Guitarist, songwriter for the seminal 1980s blues rock band, The Blasters. When he left the band after a disagreement with his brother, lead singer Phil Alvin, he launched a solo career as a singer and producer. He won a Grammy in the Best Traditional Folk album category in 2001.
