Holmes & Cruise Aides Dismiss Separation Reports

But her representative insists all talk of a broken marriage and an unhappy Holmes is ridiculous. A spokeswoman says, "She and her husband enjoy a close and loving relationship." According to the In Touch article, Holmes plans to move to Manhattan with her daughter to pursue her Broadway acting ambitions. A source says, "She'd love to go to Broadway to show the world she can act."

The friend told the publication: "Shortly after his (Klein's) relationship with Katie ended, Chris and I had a heart-to-heart. We were having dinner at Cafeteria, a restaurant in New York's Chelsea district, when Chris blurted out: 'Dude, you know I got Katie preggers.' There was a long silence. I realized Chris had said more than he had intended. My next thought was: 'What happened to the baby?' (But) from the look in Chris' eyes, I realized this was highly personal. I didn't want to probe any further." But a spokesperson for Holmes insists there is no truth to the allegations, branding the Enquirer's story "false" reports MSNBC.
Movie Reviews: 'Mad Money'
18 January 2008 (StudioBriefing)
A film titled Mad Money that stars Diane Keaton, Queen Latifah and Katie Holmes sounds like the kind that should draw just about every female moviegoer to the box office. But critics suggest that's not likely to happen. Even the female critics have few kind words for it. Elizabeth Weitzman in the New York Daily News asks, "Why would so many accomplished women waste their time and talents on a movie as counterfeit as Mad Money?" Claudia Puig in USA Today comments, "This lifeless comedy and uninventive caper feels as if it were cobbled together at a studio's obligatory consciousness-raising diversity seminar." As for the male critics, most of them post implied warnings to their gender to avoid it. Kyle Smith in the New York Post writes that director Callie Khouri "achieves a level of overall drabness suggesting Saturday afternoon at your local Wal-Mart, in whose $2.99 bins you will soon be finding the DVD of this movie."

Then, at mile 20..., I hear this guy talk to his friend ahead of him, saying, 'It's only six more miles, don't worry, ' and I'm thinking, 'Six more miles? Are you kidding?'" But Holmes is thrilled she finished the marathon and urges others to tackle New York's streets on foot: "It was hard, but I loved seeing New York that way."
Scientology Leaders Offer Seven-Page Missive To Blast Cruise Expose
16 January 2008 (WENN)
Scientology leaders have prepared a seven-page statement damning biographer Andrew Morton's new expose on church celebrity Tom Cruise. The Brit's new tome, Tom Cruise: An Unauthorized Biography, hits bookstores across America on Tuesday and features wild claims about the movie star's personal life, his marriages to Nicole Kidman and Katie Holmes and his Scientology beliefs. Church leaders are determined to dismiss the book, by revealing Morton didn't interview anyone close to Cruise or even any of the directors the actor has worked with while researching what they call a "bigoted, defamatory assault replete with lies." Morton accepts he didn't interview the major people in Cruise's life, but insists he did try. The author, who stunned the world with a Princess Diana expose a decade ago, says, "Most people in Hollywood are scared of talking publicly and candidly about Tom Cruise." Morton also defends himself against the Scientology leaders' new accusations that his Cruise biography won't be released in the writer's native Britain because publishers there rejected the project. Morton insists the book will not hit shelves there because libel laws in the U.K. favor plaintiffs far more than they do in America and other parts of the world.

Cruise Is Scientology's Second-in-Command, Says Biographer
7 January 2008 (WENN)
Tom Cruise has become the Church Of Scientology's second-in-command, according to a new biography. British writer Andrew Morton, best known for his books about the late Diana, Princess Of Wales and David Beckham and Victoria Beckham, claims the 45-year-old Hollywood superstar's life has been taken over by the controversial religion. In Tom Cruise: An Unauthorized Biography, Morton alleges the Scientology religion, founded by science-fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard, relies so heavily on Cruise's celebrity to recruit followers, the actor is now considered second only to leader David Miscavige. Morton's book claims Cruise's movie career is built around the Church Of Scientology's needs and that he carefully selected his wife Katie Holmes based on what is best for the religion. However, Cruise's lawyer Bert Fields insists the biography is full of errors as a result of Morton's poor research. He tells British newspaper the Mail On Sunday: "(Tom) has been told about it and naturally he knows there are a bunch of lies about him. It's a boring, poorly researched book by a man who never talked to anyone involved in Tom Cruise's life or anyone close to him." Tom Cruise: An Unauthorized Biography is due for release in the U.S. on January 15.

Instead, Redford found Cruise to be nothing like his public image on the set of Lions For Lambs. In an interview with Playboy magazine, Redford says, "Tom's a talented actor and I think people will respond positively to him (in Lions For Lambs)... Katie Holmes silenced speculation she is pregnant with her second child by showing off her svelte figure in a racy swimsuit on the French Riviera Tuesday. Tom Cruise's third wife was reported to be in the early stages of pregnancy after she appeared to be sporting a rounded stomach as she left a Madrid, Spain restaurant after dining with celebrity pals David Beckham and Victoria Beckham on Sunday. The couple, who wed last November, already have a 14-month-old daughter Suri, while Cruise has two adopted children Isabella and Connor, from his second marriage to Nicole Kidman. Following the pregnancy reports yesterday, Holmes flashed her slim figure to onlooking paparazzi as she played with Suri in the sea at the Cap D'Antibes beach resort. Cruise & Holmes Join Beckham for Spanish Swan Song
19 June 2007 (WENN)
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes were among family, friends and fans who gave David Beckham a rousing send-off as he played his last club game in Europe on Sunday. Cruise and Holmes joined Beckham's wife Victoria at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium in Madrid, Spain, where the soccer star, 32, played his final game for Real Madrid, before transferring to Major League Soccer team the Los Angeles Galaxy in America. Beckham was substituted late in the game against Mallorca, which his team won to claim the Spanish league title for the first time in the England star's four years with the team. Cruise, Holmes and Victoria Beckham watched as the soccer ace and his teammates celebrated the victory and the league title with a jubilant lap of honor at the end of the game. The result helped make Beckham's difficult 2007 in Spain end of a high note - the soccer star was dropped by both England coach Steve McClaren and Real Madrid boss Fabio Capello as he struggled with injury. He has since signed with the MLS club and is set to return to the ranks of his national team, where he was once captain. Speaking after last night's victory, the soccer star said, "It's been an incredible experience but all I remember now is the great things. Winning this tonight now puts to bed everything else." After the game, Beckham performed a lap of honor with an England flag draped across his back.

The Batman Begins star and wife of Tom Cruise is upset by reports the 18-year-old Texan is now going by an almost identical moniker. A spokesperson for the original Katie Holmes says, "It's a really cheap shot. Obviously Tom would support Katie in anything she decides to do about it." But Shy Love, a representative for fashion student Katee and an adult video veteran, tells PageSix.com the name alternation was done in homage to the 28-year-old wife of Tom Cruise. She says, "Katee is using the name as a tribute to Katie, who has always portrayed an innocence in everything she's done, beginning with Dawson's Creek."

Emily Leatherman, 32, was arrested on Thursday afternoon for violation of a court order and possession of stolen property, according to Beverly Hills police. The authorities would not reveal the details of her arrest but stated the stolen items were not related to Cruise or Holmes. Cruise won a restraining order against Leatherman in 2005 and last year a judge ordered her to stay at least 500 feet away from Cusack, after the actor claimed she had been stalking him. In his request for the restraining order, Cusack said Leatherman was "showing unusual interest by stalking, throwing long letters of interest over my fence in bags with rocks and screwdrivers inside... and listing my address as her own." As WENN went to press, Leatherman was still in custody.

Holmes Wants More Children

Katie Holmes "definitely" wants more children with husband Tom Cruise after having such an easy pregnancy with her daughter, Suri. The 28-year-old experienced no morning sickness while she was expecting and had no food craving besides cupcakes. The former Dawson's Creek star gave birth to the couple's daughter last April and was thrilled by the experience. She tells US Harper's Bazaar, "I felt so proud to be having a baby and so excited. And I felt closer to other women - to my sisters, to my mom. I felt empowered, like, 'I've given birth. I did it! There's nothing I can't handle.'" Holmes says the transition from movie star to mother has been easy adding, "I've really enjoyed this time that I have taken to be with Suri as well as the challenges of the first couple of months: feeding and pumping, learning to decipher what each cry means - is she hungry? Other stars spotted at the lavish party included Penelope Cruz, Lindsay Lohan, Leonardo DiCaprio, Chris Rock, Drew Barrymore, Sienna Miller and Jamie Foxx. Cruise and Holmes Fear for Suri's Safety
12 January 2007 (WENN)
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are rarely seen in public with their nine-month-old daughter Suri because they fear she may be the target of kidnapping plots, according to media reports in the US. The last time Suri was spotted in public was a brief appearance in her father's arms during her parents' honeymoon last year, where the couple were surrounded by eight bodyguards. During the baby's appearance at the couple's wedding in Italy, the family took extra security precautions and were protected by 200 police officers, as well as members of an Italian security force. According to US publication Star, the couple fear the extreme public interest in the baby could make her a prime target for abduction. A source says, "The world was so obsessed with getting its first peek at Suri, I think Tom and Katie might have decided to keep her under wraps to prevent some wacko from trying to abduct her." Other celebrities whose children have reportedly been targets of foiled kidnapping plots include US talk show host David Letterman, Victoria and David Beckham and Russell Crowe
Holmes Indulges In Shopping Spending Spree
11 January 2007 (WENN)
Katie Holmes' passion for pricey designer clothes cost her $200,000 last year at one Beverly Hills department store alone. Tom Cruise's new bride was regularly photographed wandering around the posh Barneys New York department store while she was pregnant with the couple's baby daughter Suri. Sources tell American publication Us Weekly that the former Dawson's Creek star often asks the store to stay open for her after hours. The source explains, "She walks around with a personal shopper and points at what she wants. She orders different colors and a few of each. She's their favorite customer!" The 28-year-old regularly shops for designer footwear and spent $400 on two pairs of jeans in April and left with five bags' worth of baby clothes in November. Holmes representative denies that the star receives any special treatment, which a representative from Barney's confirms, saying, "We never have been asked to open a store for Katie Holmes after closing hours."

Lopez and Carrey Deny They're Scientology Converts
15 December 2006 (WENN)
Movie stars Jennifer Lopez and Jim Carrey have laughed off reports their newfound friendship with Tom Cruise is proof of a burgeoning interest in his Scientology religion. Insiders tell the New York Post that Catholic-raised Lopez has been slowly introduced to the controversial religion by her friend Leah Remini, who stars in sitcom The King Of Queens, while funnyman Carrey is taking introductory courses in the religion. The media were stunned last month when Cruise and new wife Katie Holmes invited Lopez, her husband Marc Anthony, Carrey and his girlfriend Jenny McCarthy to their Italian wedding - because the Mission: Impossible star had never been known to socialize with the quartet. In the past two weeks, Cruise and Holmes have socialized with Lopez and Anthony on at least three occasions. Despite the couples' new friendships with the Cruises, their representatives insist Scientology isn't their common interest. Lopez's spokesperson says, "I have no knowledge of this, but I probably wouldn't have a comment on it if I did." Carrey's publicist adds, "He is not taking classes."

Winfrey was noticeably left off the list to the November 18 ceremony in Bracciano, Italy - even though celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony and Jim Carrey - who are not known to be friends of Cruise - were invited. The Church of Scientology, of which Cruise is a devout member, is normally blasted in the British press, but Hello! carefully described the "simple yet eloquent 20-minute Scientology ceremony" enjoyed by the Hollywood couple. The singer ruffled more feathers at a group dinner at the restaurant Nino the previous Thursday night by refusing to stick to the informal dress code. The source adds, "The November 16 welcome dinner was supposed to be casual. But J.Lo, of course, wore a gown. So much for casual." Meanwhile, new details have emerged about exactly how the magazine managed to keep its exclusive pictures a secret. CoMag Market Group Vice President Joe Bertolino, who distributes the magazine, said the operation was three weeks in the making and credits Vanity Fair editor in chief Graydon Carter with masterminding the exclusive deal. Neither Carter's staff or members of Bertolino's marketing group were allowed to see the images ahead of time. A private security firm was hired to guard the magazine as it was being printed and it shipped one day late, with the front of the issue covered by a protective piece of paper to prevent leaks. Bertolino says security did catch an infiltrator at one distribution point from a competing weekly magazine. He declined to name the publication, saying only that it was not owned by a "reputable" magazine company.
Holmes "Heartbroken" Over Malicious Gossip
7 September 2006 (WENN)
Katie Holmes has been devastated by the rumors and gossip surrounding the birth of her baby Suri and her relationship with Tom Cruise. The first photo of five-month-old Suri posing with her parents appears on the cover of the October issue of Vanity Fair magazine in the US. The 27-year-old tells the magazine that gossip about her family, "eats away at me because it's just not okay... Some of the crap that's out there - the stuff that's said about my parents and my siblings (implying that they didn't approve of her relationship with Cruise) - it's really frustrating the amount of s**t that's out there. And the stuff they say about Suri? You shouldn't say that about us, and you can't say that about my child." Holmes says she feels compelled to read tabloid stories because, "This is my future. This is my family, and I care so much about them. To see how someone as caring and good as Tom is - to see how things just get so twisted and turned around. I mean, where does it come from?" The former Dawson's Creek star was also humiliated by the media coverage she received when she was expecting adding, "(I) was overjoyed being pregnant, and then had to withstand ridicule about my pregnancy when it was the most normal, non-controversial thing imaginable."
Suri Cruise Makes Her News Debut, Too
6 September 2006 (StudioBriefing)
Couric's big "get" for her first newscast was Suri Cruise, or at any rate the first photograph of the 5-month-old daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, taken by celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz for the cover of the upcoming edition of Vanity Fair magazine. The photograph was displayed about two-thirds of the way through the program. TV critics gave the program mixed reviews, with several observing that it was hardly a news program at all. Howard Kurtz in the Washington Post remarked, "The number of full-fledged stories about something that happened yesterday amounted to -- let me count here -- one..." Nevertheless, Kurtz remarked, "I'm sure some will say there wasn't enough news in the 'Evening News.' And they will have a point. But that's the tradeoff if you're going to do longer, more textured pieces and new features on a half-hour broadcast." MSNBC commentator Michael Ventre remarked, "Note to Katie: It's called the CBS Evening NEWS for a reason." "They should have devoted at least 15 minutes to much harder news," Fordham University media professor Paul Levinson told Reuters. Former ABC newsman Bob Zelnick, currently a journalism professor at Boston University, told the Association Press, "I felt the show, taken as a whole, had too much softness to it." "The real test, of course, lies ahead," wrote USA Today TV critic Robert Bianco. "We'll have to see how well she wears over time, and how well she handles her first crisis. When news breaks, will viewers want to hear it from Couric?"
Top Secret Suri Photos Released
6 September 2006 (WENN)
Suri Cruise will finally make her public debut five months after her birth, when photos of the baby hit newsstands in the US on Wednesday. The hotly anticipated photos of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' offspring will appear in the October issue of Vanity Fair magazine. A source who has seen the cover of the magazine, which features both parents on the cover with Suri, tells American publication Us Weekly, "She's the most precious little girl. She has an exotic look - dark hair, fair skin and an adorable doll-like face." In the magazine, Cruise insists Suri has "Kate's lips and eyes," while Holmes think she looks "more like Tom." The photos, which were reportedly protected by guards at a Kentucky printing press before being shipped, were shot by celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz at Cruise's retreat in Telluride, Colorado in July. Vanity Fair reporter Jane Sarkin stayed with the couple for five days and found out that Cruise's first date was with Holmes on April 18 - exactly one year before Suri was born. She also learned that when Cruise proposed to Holmes at the Eiffel Tower in Paris on June 17, the actor got down on one knee and recited a two-page poem he had written. Holmes revealed during the interview that she reads tabloid reports written about her and her family saying, "It's really frustrating the amount of s**t that's out there." Cruise and Holmes both claim to be bewildered by the "Where's Suri?" campaign which has dominated the press since the baby's birth. Cruise claims, "We were always going to release a photo." Holmes adds, "We weren't trying to hide anything."
Bruckheimer: "Cruise Is Still the Biggest Star in the World"
28 August 2006 (WENN)
Hollywood producer Jerry Bruckheimer insists Tom Cruise is still one of the biggest stars in the world, despite the end of his partnership with Paramount Pictures. The chairman of Viacom - Paramount's parent company - Sumner Redstone - announced on Wednesday the studios would not be renewing Cruise's 14-year production deal due to his "recent conduct" over the past year. Cruise received a barrage of negative publicity last year due to his public displays of affection with fiancee Katie Holmes, his promotion of his controversial religion Scientology and his verbal bashing of the actress Brooke Shields for her "misguided" use of prescription drugs to treat her post-partum depression. Despite Cruise's diminished popularity amongst film fans and Paramount bosses, Top Gun producer Bruckheimer tells the New York Daily News, "Mr. Redstone has the right to say what he wants. It's not what I would do. Tom is one of the biggest stars in the world, and that hasn't changed."
Spielberg "Stunned" by Paramount's Cruise Decision
25 August 2006 (WENN)
Hollywood filmmaker Steven Spielberg insists he had no prior knowledge of Paramount's decision to end their partnership with Tom Cruise, declaring he was stunned by the news.
Spielberg's Dreamworks company is owned by Paramount Pictures and has directed Cruise in Minority Report and War of the Worlds.
Spielberg also owns the talent firm Creative Artists Agency (CAA), which represents Cruise.
When Sumner Redstone, the chairman of Viacom - Paramount's parent company - announced the studios would not be renewing Cruise's 14-year production deal due to his "recent conduct," internet gossips claimed Spielberg was aware of the decision.
However, his spokesman Marvin Levy tells the New York Daily News, "Steven had no advance knowledge of Sumner Redstone's position. The story broke when Steven was on an airplane. He found out when the plane landed."
Spielberg's producing partner Kathleen Kennedy has lashed out at reports the director was unhappy with Cruise's behaviour during the War Of The Worlds publicity campaign last year, when he indulged in public displays of affection with fiancee Katie Holmes on red carpets all over the world.
Kennedy says, "It's not true. Tom was a consummate professional. He's done nothing wrong."
Cruise's Producing Partner Slams Paramount
24 August 2006 (WENN)
Tom Cruise's producing partner Paula Wagner is furious with the treatment the pair have received from Paramount Pictures and insists they were the ones who turned their back on the studio after failing to reach an agreement regarding their contract. The studio announced on Monday it was severing ties with the pair after 14 years, citing Cruise's "unacceptable" offscreen behavior, which included promoting his relationship with Katie Holmes and his beliefs in Scientology. Wagner says, "We had ceased negotiations. I'm not sure why this happened. You need to respect your artists. I don't understand why this would be turned into a personal attack. Because that's what it is." Wagner says the pair were planning to strike out on their own and have raised a revolving fund of $100 million from two hedge funds to establish an independent production company. Cruise had been a lucrative asset for the studio in the past with his films grossing more than $2.5 billion for Paramount. According to sources close to Viacom chairman Sumner Redstone, who owns Paramount, the studio estimated that Cruise's uncensored off-screen antics were thought to have cost the studio $150 million in lost box office receipts for Mission: Impossible III. Top Hollywood producer Jerry Bruckheimer, who has made several movies with Cruise including Top Gun and Days Of Thunder, has come to the star's defense. He says, "He's as viable an actor as he always was. He's a worldwide star and a lot of people want to work with him, including me."

15 August 2006 (WENN)
Oscar-winner Michael Douglas turned to his father Kirk Douglas for support when his 2000 movie Wonder Boys failed to garner the critical acclaimed he felt sure it deserved. The Wall Street star is still convinced it's a "f**king disgrace" the film, which also featured Tobey Maguire and Katie Holmes, was ignored by awards ceremonies and audiences alike. But he took comfort in his screen icon father, who suffered a similar disappointment when his favorite performance - in the 1962 movie Lonely Are The Brave - went largely unnoticed. Douglas says, "Wonder Boys was a huge disappointment personally. I loved the movie and we didn't even get critically acknowledged as far as awards go. I thought it was a f**king disgrace. I'll be honest - it really hurt my confidence. It was a punch in the gut. In fact it was my father who helped me through it. His favorite movie is Lonely Are The Brave. Nobody saw that when it came out, nobody's seen it since. My father's disappointment in that movie helped me get over mine."

Suri's Birth Certificate Delay Explained
11 July 2006 (WENN)
Hollywood baby Suri Cruise's birth certificate has been leaked onto the Internet, prompting speculation about the little girl's first few weeks. The document, filed with the Los Angeles County Register Recorder/County Clerk, and obtained by Tmz.com, was filed on May 8 - almost a month after baby Suri was born. It's customary in Los Angeles to file the birth details within 10 days of the delivery. A source at St. John's Hospital, where baby Suri was born, tells Tmz.com the delay occurred because they needed a signature from the parents or a representative of the parents certifying birth, and that person did not come in until May 4. The person who signed for Tom Cruise and wife-to-be Katie Holmes is labeled a "friend" in the document. The hospital source also reveals the 'friend' explained to staff that the birth certificate was necessary for Suri to obtain a passport.

27 June 2006 (WENN)
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes refused to sell pictures of their new daughter Suri, after the photos were offered to the media and failed to get a significant price, according to media reports in the US. Photos of other new born celebrity babies, including Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's baby Shiloh, Gwen Stefani's baby Kingston and Brooke Shields' baby Grier have all graced the covers of major magazines. According to Fox News correspondent Roger Friedman, a photo shoot of Suri was offered to photo agency WireImage. Photos of Shiloh Jolie-Pitt were reportedly sold to People magazine for $4 million, but pictures of Suri Cruise produced not more than a $3 million bid. At that point the offer for the photos was reportedly rescinded. A magazine expert tells Friedman now that the baby is nearly three months old, her price will only go down, adding, "Shiloh was the whole deal. We won't see a baby like that again for a while."
Cruise Tops Forbes Celebrity 100 List
16 June 2006 (WENN)
Tom Cruise has topped the annual Forbes magazine Celebrity 100 list. Angelina Jolie is the cover girl for the much-anticipated publication, which hits newsstands today - but it's Cruise's movie successes and his romance with Katie Holmes that propels him to the top, with an estimated $67 million fortune. It is the second time the Mission: Impossible actor has topped the list, but his reappearance in number one spot came as a surprise in light of recent bad press over his controversial Scientology beliefs and exaggerated display of love for Holmes in the infamous Oprah Winfrey couch-jumping exhibition. However, movie earnings and column inches in the press have re-earned him the title five years after he first snatched it. A Forbes wealth expert says, "He is the only celebrity to ever make the number one spot twice. In a weak year for Hollywood, Tom Cruise is the only film star to make it to the top ten." It's not a good year for Cruise's best pals Julia Roberts and Oprah Winfrey - Pretty Woman star Roberts slipped off the list for the first time since 1999, while Oprah dropped from last year's top spot to number three. The annual ranking of fame and fortune also wasn't kind to feuding Lindsay Lohan and Hilary Duff, who both slide off the Celebrity 100 list after making it last year. Mel Gibson, Madonna and Will Ferrell also disappear from the 2006 list. The big musicians on the power chart include The Rolling Stones at number two, U2 at number four, rapper 50 Cent (number eight) and former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney (number 14). Movie mogul Steven Spielberg raked in more money than anyone else on the list in the past 12 months, but his star status is fading, according to Forbes editors - he ranked number six. The top ten most influential celebrities are as follows: 1. Tom Cruise; 2. The Rolling Stones; 3. Oprah Winfrey; 4. U2; 5. Tiger Woods; 6. Steven Spielberg; 7. Howard Stern; 8. 50 Cent 9. Cast Of The Sopranos; 10. Dan Brown.
