An article in the new issue of magazine In Touch declares Holmes plans to move to Manhattan, New York from Los Angeles with the couple's daughter Suri. The exclusive story, which graces the front page of the publication, leads with the headline, 'Katie wants her life back'. As the three-year anniversary of her first date with movie star Cruise looms on April 29, sources claim the actress is tired of dressing up as Mrs. Cruise and playing the perfect wife in public. One insider tells In Touch, "Of course Katie still loves him (Tom), but she does often feel like the little wife that has to sit there quietly and smile serenely at everything he says." But her representative insists all talk of a broken marriage and an unhappy Holmes is ridiculous. A spokeswoman says, "She and her husband enjoy a close and loving relationship." According to the In Touch article, Holmes plans to move to Manhattan with her daughter to pursue her Broadway acting ambitions. The Pieces Of April actress is said to be in final negotiations to join John Lithgow and Dianne Wiest in Arthur Miller's post-World War II show, with British newspaper reports claiming she has signed on to begin in May. Back in January Holmes spoke of her desire to appear on Broadway: "There's nothing concrete. I've always had that fantasy when I was growing up, to be on Broadway." However, Holmes' spokesperson insists that although the star is in talks with All My Sons producers to make her professional stage debut, "nothing is Set."

But Smith insists he chooses to study religions, without subscribing to any one. He says, "You don't have to be Jewish to be a friend of Steven Spielberg. You don't have to be a Muslim to be a friend of Muhammad Ali. And you don't have to be a Scientologist to be a friend of Tom Cruise. I am a Christian. I am a student of all religions. Stars Turn Out for Ledger Memorial

Hollywood stars Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes, Sienna Miller, Ellen DeGeneres and director Todd Haynes were among attendees at a memorial service in Los Angeles for late actor Heath Ledger. The private service to pay tribute to the 28-year-old, who was found dead in New York last month, took place at the Sony lot in L.A. on Saturday and also included a variety of figures from the movie industry and Ledger's agency CAA. Attendees included Cruise and Holmes, who co-starred with Ledger's former fiancee Michelle Williams in TV show Dawson's Creek, and British actress Sienna Miller, who worked with Ledger on 2005 film Casanova, according to People.com. The memorial comes a week after relatives and close friends of the tragic star gathered at a smaller service at the Westwood Village Memorial Park cemetery in the city. A service also took place in New York which attracted close to 1,000 mourners. Ledger was found dead in his New York apartment on January 22. An autopsy failed to reveal the cause of death, and police are still awaiting the results of a toxicology test to asses if drugs found in his apartment played a part in his demise. His body has been flown to his native Australia, where a private funeral is expected to take place in his hometown of Perth.

Actress Katie Holmes has dismissed a U.S. tabloid's claim she secretly fell pregnant with ex-fiance Chris Klein's baby. The Mad Money beauty - who is now married to Tom Cruise - dated the American Pie star for five years, but split from the actor in early 2005. Weeks after their break-up, Holmes began dating Cruise and the couple welcomed baby daughter Suri in April 2006, before marrying in Rome, Italy in November that year. But a close pal of Klein's recently claimed to the National Enquirer that Suri wasn't the first child Holmes had conceived - even hinting the 29-year-old had undergone an abortion. The friend told the publication: "Shortly after his (Klein's) relationship with Katie ended, Chris and I had a heart-to-heart. We were having dinner at Cafeteria, a restaurant in New York's Chelsea district, when Chris blurted out: 'Dude, you know I got Katie preggers.' There was a long silence. I realized Chris had said more than he had intended. My next thought was: 'What happened to the baby?' (But) from the look in Chris' eyes, I realized this was highly personal. A film titled Mad Money that stars Diane Keaton, Queen Latifah and Katie Holmes sounds like the kind that should draw just about every female moviegoer to the box office. But critics suggest that's not likely to happen. Even the female critics have few kind words for it. Elizabeth Weitzman in the New York Daily News asks, "Why would so many accomplished women waste their time and talents on a movie as counterfeit as Mad Money?" Claudia Puig in USA Today comments, "This lifeless comedy and uninventive caper feels as if it were cobbled together at a studio's obligatory consciousness-raising diversity seminar." As for the male critics, most of them post implied warnings to their gender to avoid it. Kyle Smith in the New York Post writes that director Callie Khouri "achieves a level of overall drabness suggesting Saturday afternoon at your local Wal-Mart, in whose $2.99 bins you will soon be finding the DVD of this movie."

Holmes Almost Quit New York Marathon

Scientology leaders have prepared a seven-page statement damning biographer Andrew Morton's new expose on church celebrity Tom Cruise. The Brit's new tome, Tom Cruise: An Unauthorized Biography, hits bookstores across America on Tuesday and features wild claims about the movie star's personal life, his marriages to Nicole Kidman and Katie Holmes and his Scientology beliefs. Church leaders are determined to dismiss the book, by revealing Morton didn't interview anyone close to Cruise or even any of the directors the actor has worked with while researching what they call a "bigoted, defamatory assault replete with lies." Morton accepts he didn't interview the major people in Cruise's life, but insists he did try. The author, who stunned the world with a Princess Diana expose a decade ago, says, "Most people in Hollywood are scared of talking publicly and candidly about Tom Cruise." Morton also defends himself against the Scientology leaders' new accusations that his Cruise biography won't be released in the writer's native Britain because publishers there rejected the project. Morton insists the book will not hit shelves there because libel laws in the U.K. favor plaintiffs far more than they do in America and other parts of the world.

Man Fined for Attempting To Sell Cruise Wedding Pics

A man who admitted attempting to extort $1.3 million from Tom Cruise in exchange for stolen photos of the actor's wedding has escaped with a fine. Computer technician Marc Gittleman, 34, had pleaded guilty in Los Angeles in September to transporting stolen property after he had offered to return the photos of Cruise and wife Katie Holmes in exchange for money. U.S. District Judge George King fined Gittleman $3,000 and gave him two years probation after lawyers on both sides agreed a prison sentence or home detention was unnecessary. Gittleman said in court he had "brought unimaginable shame upon myself and my family." He added, "I'll be working the rest of my life to make it right."

British writer Andrew Morton, best known for his books about the late Diana, Princess Of Wales and David Beckham and Victoria Beckham, claims the 45-year-old Hollywood superstar's life has been taken over by the controversial religion. In Tom Cruise: An Unauthorized Biography, Morton alleges the Scientology religion, founded by science-fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard, relies so heavily on Cruise's celebrity to recruit followers, the actor is now considered second only to leader David Miscavige. Morton's book claims Cruise's movie career is built around the Church Of Scientology's needs and that he carefully selected his wife Katie Holmes based on what is best for the religion. However, Cruise's lawyer Bert Fields insists the biography is full of errors as a result of Morton's poor research. He tells British newspaper the Mail On Sunday: "(Tom) has been told about it and naturally he knows there are a bunch of lies about him. It's a boring, poorly researched book by a man who never talked to anyone involved in Tom Cruise's life or anyone close to him." The Walk The Line Oscar winner, 30, beat Jennifer Aniston to the top spot with 74 pe cent to the Rumor Has It actress' 70 percent in the survey of more than 1,000 women aged 13 and over. Participants were asked to judge which celebrities, from a list of the 10 women who regularly graced magazine covers and gossip columns in 2007, they found the most appealing, confident, glamorous, interesting and over-exposed, among other qualities. Angelina Jolie came in third position with 53 percent, closely followed by singer/actress Jennifer Lopez in fourth place with 52 percent. Tom Cruise's wife, Katie Holmes, also makes it into the top five with a mere 32 percent. Meanwhile, on the other end of the scale, Paris Hilton edged out Britney Spears to be voted the least appealing star with a 9 percent likeability rating to the singer's 11, while the hotel heiress topped the list for most over-exposed celebrity with 75 percent to Spears' 68 percent.

The man who tried to extort $1 million from Tom Cruise and his wife Katie Holmes over stolen wedding photographs tried to commit suicide at least two weeks before he actually killed himself. David Hans Schmidt was found dead at his home in Phoenix, Arizona on Friday. He was due to be sentenced on October 11 after pleading guilty in August to transmitting threatening communications with the intent to extort. Daily News journalist George Rush has now revealed that Schmidt called him two weeks ago and admitted he'd tried to kill himself. Schmidt told Rush: "I did something really stupid. I put a belt around my neck in the shower. Fortunately, it didn't work." Rush adds, "He was phoning me every other day. I said, 'You've got to get yourself on some medication.' He said he was on some, but it just didn't work for very long."

In court papers, Cruise's lawyers report Schmidt, who has been dubbed the 'Sultan Of Sleaze' for peddling sex tapes of Paris Hilton and Colin Farrell, told the actor's representatives that "it would not look good for anyone if the photographs become public." But now Schmidt has agreed to enter a plea agreement in a bid to keep jail time to a minimum. A man has been arrested for allegedly attempting to sell stolen photographs of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' wedding. Cruise's lawyer Bertram Fields claims Arizona native David Hans Schmidt, 47, approached the actor's representatives in June demanding more than $1 million for the pictures of the couple's 2006 wedding in Italy. The FBI was contacted and Schmidt - known for arranging deals for celebrity photographs - was arrested by agents on Tuesday. He is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Los Angeles. Schmidt is currently trying to sell Paris Hilton's diaries, as well as photographs of her and personal items that were left abandoned in an LA storage lock-up.

The British superstar is recovering from an ankle injury, so only played for his new team L.A. Galaxy for 13 minutes in the second half of the exhibition match against London side Chelsea. Although L.A. The Cruises' new compound is just down the road from Oprah Winfrey's breathtaking $50 million home. Cruise made headlines with Winfrey in 2005 when he jubilantly bounced on the talk show queen's sofa after declaring his love for actress Holmes on her TV show. Montecito has long been considered one of California's celebrity enclaves - Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi, former Seinfeld star Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Kirk Douglas are among the stars who call the seaside town home. The family has left Europe to start a new life in Los Angeles in support of the former England captain's new career with Major League Soccer team the L.A. Galaxy. The soccer star is expected to earn a base salary of over $5 million for every year he spends at the Galaxy. He is expected to more than double that through endorsements and bonuses. He is expected to earn $250 million over five years. The Spice Girls star and her soccer hunk partner were expected at Los Angeles International Airport as WENN went to press. The Beckhams and their three sons, Brooklyn, Cruz and Romeo, boarded a plane at Heathrow Airport just outside London on Thursday afternoon. The family is moving to California to support former England soccer captain David as he embarks on a new career with the Los Angeles Galaxy. But before his first scheduled Galaxy game - against touring English Premiership team Chelsea on July 21 - David will be checking out his new Beverly Hills mansion. Cusack's "Stalker" Arrested Outside Cruise Estate

A woman whom movie star John Cusack once called a stalker has been arrested outside the Hollywood home where Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes live. Emily Leatherman, 32, was arrested on Thursday afternoon for violation of a court order and possession of stolen property, according to Beverly Hills police. The authorities would not reveal the details of her arrest but stated the stolen items were not related to Cruise or Holmes. Cruise won a restraining order against Leatherman in 2005 and last year a judge ordered her to stay at least 500 feet away from Cusack, after the actor claimed she had been stalking him. In his request for the restraining order, Cusack said Leatherman was "showing unusual interest by stalking, throwing long letters of interest over my fence in bags with rocks and screwdrivers inside... and listing my address as her own." Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes refused to sell pictures of their new daughter Suri, after the photos were offered to the media and failed to get a significant price, according to media reports in the US. Photos of other new born celebrity babies, including Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's baby Shiloh, Gwen Stefani's baby Kingston and Brooke Shields' baby Grier have all graced the covers of major magazines. According to Fox News correspondent Roger Friedman, a photo shoot of Suri was offered to photo agency WireImage. Photos of Shiloh Jolie-Pitt were reportedly sold to People magazine for $4 million, but pictures of Suri Cruise produced not more than a $3 million bid. At that point the offer for the photos was reportedly rescinded. A magazine expert tells Friedman now that the baby is nearly three months old, her price will only go down, adding, "Shiloh was the whole deal. We won't see a baby like that again for a while."
